About Thomas Cirignano
" I try not to let fear hold me back from trying the things that strike me as interesting, challenging, or exciting. Although I've tried many things, (some ill-advised) I don't claim to be an expert at any of them. Those who have read my book would tend to agree.
As for some unusual facts about me, here is a sampling. I've out-run the cop
s in high-speed chases on two occasions. Once in my Dodge Challenger, and once on my motorcycle through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I've totalled two cars, taking down telephone poles. I hit a guard-rail on my motorcycle while doing 80 MPH. I was extremely lucky to have survived all three of those accidents. On another occasion, I crashed my ultra-light aircraft in the ocean and sank like a rock. I was barely able to swim to the surface. To top things off, I've had guns pointed at my head, ready to fire, more times than I like to remember. Details of all of those events, and much more, are in "The Constant Outsider."
I can't believe I'm still alive. Somebody up-there must really like me, or they must have some special plan in store for me and need to keep me around.
Readers might just learn a thing or two from my mistakes." ~Tom
Tom grew up and worked for many years in Boston’s predominantly Irish working class neighborhoods. He owned and operated an automotive service station on East Third Street in South Boston until 1987. After selling that business he relocated to Ft. Myers, Florida where he managed a branch office of AAIM Realty Group, Inc. and sold real estate for eleven years. His lifelong battle with scoliosis and chronic back problems eventually forced him to give up that work as well. Over the years, Tom became a certified scuba diver, ultralight aircraft pilot, avid boater, and motorcycle enthusiast. Tom also studied journalism. He was encouraged by friends and family to document his extraordinaly experiences in book form.
The result was "The Constant Outsider: Memoirs of a South Boston Mechanic."
Since relocating once again to Massachusetts, Tom served two terms on the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee, and has served on several other town committees and commissions.

"He really is like the rest of us, often just trying to fit in, even if it required standing up and putting up a fight."
